Asteya: Others

Asteya- non-stealing

“While this principle embodies the physical act of stealing, it also defines stealing on the energetic level and is sometimes defined as appropriate acquisition. Asteya is a refusal to take something that doesn’t belong to us, whether it’s tangible or not. It also means to never diminish the value of things other deem valuable”.

This goes so much further than physically taking something from somebody.

When it comes to others, we can steal joy from them. If we are constantly going to a person when we feel down, and expecting them to always fill us up, we are taking away their energy and not giving any back. Of course it’s good to go to people for help, but are you offering anything in return? Is it a mutual exchange?

Take some time to reflect on this and be honest with yourself.
