I’m a CYT/RYT, Now What?
So you just finished your yoga teacher training… now what?
Well first, congrats on this huge milestone. I know I can subjectively say, that was one of the most psychologically and physically transformative experiences in my life!
If your intention is to use your certification and teach, read this carefully…
Don’t wait.
Don’t wait for the “right time”.
Rip off the band aid.
Now read this carefully…
You are ready. You are equipped. And now is the time when all this information is fresh in your mind.
I remember how scared I was to teach after graduating. Every bone in my body was telling me to wait until I felt “ready”. But I knew in my heart, and my intuition was telling me, now is the time.
So I went straight in and taught my first class one week later. It was so scary (being quite introverted in front of big crowds), but it went perfect.
You know what I told myself that made it so easy?
Nobody is there for me. Everyone who came to class is there for themselves. I am a facilitator and I am there to guide them inwards. Not outwards, not towards me. That took all the pressure off. Nobody was analyzing me, they were showing up for themselves and working on themselves.
“Teach with love, and you can’t go wrong”. That’s what my yoga teacher told me when I asked her for some wisdom on teaching for the first time. And it’s so on point. As long as I get up there to teach from a place of love, nothing I say or do can be wrong. If it’s made from love, and when it comes from that beautiful place, all it can do is resonate with others deeply. That’s just the way it works.
If you’re reading this and thinking about enrolling in a yoga teacher training, do it. It changed my life. Whether you plan on teaching or not, it can only transform your life for the better. You’ll be a better teacher for yourself.
